$1,150.00

This is the story of Patanjarngi (Slender Pigweed), which is a primary food source for kangaroos. They eat the seed. Warlpiri people also relied on the seed to supplement their diet.

Patanjarngi is a nourishing plant that is full of water. It is recognisable for its fluffy flower, which is typically red or grey. The flower is broad and stands upright.

Other animals in the Tanami desert also rely on Patanjarngi for survival. Bush turkeys, cows, camels and horses also eat the flower because of the water it contains.

When water is scarce, Patanjarngi becomes a key of life for people and animals in the desert.
