Manuel Japaljarri Herbert

Manuel is a younger artist who was born and grew up in Lajumanu surrounded by the creativity of his elders, and the timelessness of his ancient culture. He works in the Lajamanu art center from time to time and has been affected by seeing his elders create their dreaming stories on canvas. He is also a musician playing in Lajamanu, Melbourne and Sydney. His artwork is affected by his need to create both musically and on canvas. His favourite theme is sites in the Tanami Desert which are sacred, or events which are significant in the lives of Warlpiri people such as fire, water and land.
