Annie Johnson
Annie Johnson, skin name Napanangka, was born in Lajamanu, though due to government relocation policies her traditional family homelands are approximately 400kms south. These homelands provide the inspiration for much of Napanangka’s artwork. Annie loved to paint with her Napanangka sisters in Lajamanu. The would talk, laugh and paint.
Napanangka paints the stories of her Jukurrpa (Dreaming). She found it healing when difficulties came her way. Using bright colours and clear symbology, her art displays a simple sense of order and peace.
