Jakamarra’s first medium was body and wood, for traditional ceremony. Ronnie came to Lajamanu in the 1950’s and started using canvas and acrylic in the 80’s.  His artistic tradition comes from the large sand collages men made for ceremony.  His work is in the tradition of the beginnings of the central desert Aboriginal Art Movement. His work has been exhibitied in America, France Germany and Australia and is in many collections.
