Mary was born in Ali-Curung (Warrabri) to the east of Warlpiri lands and Lajamanu. Her parents moved to Lajamanu and she was raised here. She now lives mainly in Yuendumu 600kms south of Lajamanu. Warlpiri lands are about 900 x 500kms so the movement of peoples were common and reasons many.  They mainly travelled in their own lands, visiting neighbours occasionally.  Her country is Ngarnalkurru.  Mary’s first mediums were ochres and oils on the body.  Later in life she practises art with acrylics and canvas.  Important ceremonies still dictate the uses of oils and ochres.
